Rick Alpiar

Co-Founder and President

Rick is a true native of Larchmont - in fact, his grandparents' phone number was Larchmont 4! A graduate of Mamaroneck High School, Rick served in the United States Marine Corps as a member of the Marine Corps Intelligence Unit during the Vietnam War.

Upon earning a bachelor's degree in economics from Iona College, Rick became an insurance underwriter for Chubb Insurance. His work experience also included positions with Great American Insurance Company and Eagle Star Insurance Company. Chubb is where he obtained his "basic training" and licensing preparation.

Rick earned his insurance license in 1978 and maintains his annual license renewal by regularly completing continuing education insurance course credits. He's earned a reputation for being "exceptionally well-versed" in all phases of personal, family, business, and professional practice insurance.

He co-founded Alpiar & Papa with his wife Ann. Over the years, they've built the firm's reputation for policy expertise, exceptional service, obtaining maximum client coverage at minimal expense, and being available in case of emergencies 24/7.

In his free time from March through October, starting daily at 5:00 PM, Rick runs and coaches recreational baseball league games, field practice, and instruction. In this role, he's been a fixture for many years in Larchmont, NY and in his adopted hometown of New Rochelle, NY.

When insurance and baseball fail to fill every available non-family moment, Rick feeds his lifelong interests in American history and all things Americana with books, films, and museum visits.

Ann Papa-Alpiar

Co-Founder, Vice President, and Treasurer

The oldest of seven Papa children (two boys and five girls), Ann's family moved to Pelham, NY when she was seven years-old. Ann grew up there, graduating from Pelham High School. She earned a bachelor's degree in management and a minor in marketing from Iona College. She also earned her MBA there. Ann excellent student, as an undergraduate she was the recipient of the Iona College Management Award and the prestigious Wall Street Journal Student Achievement Award.

With her family in Pelham and Rick's in Larchmont, they set up their household and raised their family in New Rochelle.

Their son Christopher, who earned a master's degree in education, has taught high school biology and geometry in Asia for a decade. Their daughter Casey is a full-time employee of Alpiar & Papa. See her bio below.

Besides maintaining family ties and raising her own family while co-founding the insurance agency, Ann has been deeply involved with the Girl Scouts of the USA. Ann was a service unit manager for the New Rochelle Girl Scouts from 2005 to 2018. She still leads two Girl Scout troops in the evenings.

In addition, she remains on-call for insurance emergencies.

Casey Alpiar

Licensed Agent

According to Casey, "Business and baseball are all about teamwork." That mindset has set the stage for how she handles her insurance agency duties over the past four years. It's all about promoting teamwork with Rick, Ann, the rest of the staff, and the agency's insurance clients when it comes to fulfilling everyone's needs.

On a personal level, her life and team philosophy is all about having fun and learning. A Gold Award Girl Scout, Casey helps Ann manage two New Rochelle Girl Scout troops. They lead annual spring camping trips to a YMCA cabin two hours north in Connecticut, which traditionally includes visits to the Connecticut Science Center and Museum.

Casey also spends a couple of days each week as a baseball "fielding specialist teacher." She coaches a Little League team for 11- and 12-year-old boys and a Youth Baseball New Rochelle (YBNR) team of 7- and 8-year-old girls.

A graduate of New Rochelle High School, Casey also earned a degree from The Art Institute in Center City Philadelphia, PA.

Roma Grogan

Claims Manager/Agent and Customer Service Representative

Rick says, "Roma has the skills and training to step up and perform. She represents our clients' needs and interests when the pressure is on. She is a true asset to our business."

Roma grew up in North Carolina and graduated from Belmont Abbey College, where she majored in English literature. She moved to New York to pursue musical theater. Life then took another direction. She worked for a British bank as a money market trader. On the side, Roma did some cabaret singing.

Through the market, Roma met her husband Tom. They lived in England for five years. They've lived in New Rochelle for the past 20 years. They are the proud parents of three grown children, Ciara, Michael, and Kaitlyn, and grandparents to Izabela.
